Excellent ground cover does best in partial to full shade. Reaching a height of 3-4 inches, this is right at home as a base plant for the shade garden plants or shrubs. Blue-violet flowers in spring on 4-6″ spikes are a favorite of bees. Forms a compact, dense mat that prevents weeds from poking through once established. 2-3″ oval shaped leaves form tight rosettes. Bronze foliage is most vivid in cooler temperatures of spring and fall. Stays ‘evergreen’ until temps drop below 15 degrees. Foliage may show more green than bronze in very dense shade or during very hot, humid times. Spreads by stolons, but is not invasive.
Mat forming ground cover with glossy, evergreen leaves on reddish stems. Covered with clusters of starry, golden flowers in late spring (Evergreen in zones 7 and up.)
WITCH-HAZEL is the common name for Hamamelis virginica. The clusters of rich yellow flowers begin to expand in the autumn before the leaves fall and continue throughout the winter. Often blooms in winter!

Trailing in habit, this is a good addition to the rock garden, as a border in hot, dry areas, groundcover, and in containers. Mature foliage has a purple hue that overcasts the dusty, blue for a nice contrast. Good color even when not in bloom.

Growing Tips
Fast growing plants spread by underground stems to create a great groundcover. Divide clumps when plantings get over crowded. Remove spent flowers, shears or even mowing on a high setting can quickly take care of the old flowers.

Fragrant honeysuckle is a shrub that can appear to glow with very fragrant pink and white blossoms in spring. The fruit matures as red berries in early summer. An excellent shrub for wildlife and as an ornamental plant. Used mostly for screens or hedges, but also makes a fine specimen shrub. This shrub is self supporting and is not a vine.
Evergreen trailing perennial, up to 4 inches tall makes a wonderful groundcover and accent for rock gardens and containers. Especially effective in a whiskey barrel as it will cascade over the sides. Tolerant of dry conditions and very hardy.
